See you next year

Shay Nehmad:

This is not Cup of Go for, December 26. This is just a tribute. Do you know that song? Yes. We're off this week.

Shay Nehmad:

We're actually recording this before Christmas. Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etcetera, etcetera. We're taking some time off from the podcast, but we wanted to leave you with some other things to listen to, while you're missing the news from this week. I assume there's not gonna be a ton of news from this week anyway because the team is probably on vacation. While you're listening to this, I might or might not be physically skiing right now.

Shay Nehmad:

That's my plan. I wanna drive up to Tahoe and ski. Do you have any cozy plans for Christmas?

Jonathan Hall:

My brother's coming to visit, on Christmas day. Nice. So we'll probably go to the Botanical Gardens and see their Christmas display and drink beer.

Shay Nehmad:

Sounds good. Yeah. What do you recommend for our listeners while they while they miss us?

Jonathan Hall:

Yeah. I've I've been listening to a podcast lately that's not related to programming at all. It's more philosophy. It's called Within Reason, hosted by Alex O'Connor. And he did a recent episode, two actually I'll call out, with famous YouTubers that are not known for philosophy per se.

Jonathan Hall:

The first one was Hank Green, who you might know from YouTube videos and stuff, science related education stuff. And then

Shay Nehmad:

Vsauce, Michael

Jonathan Hall:

here. Vsauce. Yeah, Michael from Vsauce. He did one of them too. So I'm going to recommend those two episodes.

Jonathan Hall:

They're fun. Even if you're not into philosophy, it's fun because it's two guys, you know, probably from the YouTubes and they're sort of talking about like, you know, is free will a thing? Is science a thing? Does a chair exist? You know, sort of lighthearted philosophy stuff.

Jonathan Hall:

So it's kind of cool cool two episodes to listen to.

Shay Nehmad:

That sounds fun. Yep. And what about if someone is jonesing, absolutely jonesing for a Cup A Go episode?

Jonathan Hall:

Yeah. I'm gonna have to do a shout out to the episode recorded or released on May 17. This was right after Ian announced his resignation from the Google team, so we did a shout out to him, we also had an interview with my old boss, Kevin Hoffman, talking about empathy, which is of course always Go related, and logging and observability and stuff like that. So that was a fun conversation.

Shay Nehmad:

Cool. I'll piggyback on that and say that a week after episode 111, we actually had Ian on the podcast. So it's sort of a two you can do a two parter where on the seventeenth, we talked about, you know, about Ian and then a week after we talked, with Ian.

Jonathan Hall:

Yeah. That was a great conversation too. Mhmm. What else do you listen to when you're not cup of going?

Shay Nehmad:

So I'll recommend recently, you know, I don't wanna recommend my normal podcast because they're all like comedy Israeli podcasts in Hebrew. So, you know, whoever listens to them already listens to them, you know, they they know what I'm talking about. Tychev Zakovich, Magazena Bokebelev, all that. But I listen started listening to, acquired podcasts. They have a two parter about Microsoft, a little company you may have heard of.

Shay Nehmad:

When I say two parter, I don't mean like twenty five minutes and thirty minutes, I mean like four hours and five hours. So it's basically a book about, basically more of an audio book about, Microsoft hosted by these two guys who talked to, you know, a bunch of Microsoft execs and did their research. It's a very business y sort of podcast but they do talk about, some technical aspects of how Microsoft started with basic interpreter and the strategy and whatever. I'm right in the middle of it and I really really enjoy it. I haven't listened to part two yet and I lost my head my earbuds, so I don't know when I'll listen to it.

Shay Nehmad:

But that's my, like, non Cupago podcast recommendation. Cool. My Cupago recommendation, if you're really, really jonesing, is actually not as normal episode. Mhmm. Our live episode.

Shay Nehmad:

I thought that was a lot of fun. Maybe I like listening to it just because I I had such a good experience. But our live episodes from San Francisco, May 29, to me it was a lot of fun because that's how I had sort of kick started the San Francisco meetup thing, which is, going on. Mhmm. And there's a meetup on January.

Shay Nehmad:

It's a good chance to plug that. And we just talked about some, interesting things. The green tea garbage collector, like we covered it there. So that was nice. LLM stacks and the GO Max Prox default.

Shay Nehmad:

So just like normal a normal episode that happened in a new environment. Probably not the best, like, listening experience in terms of, the sound quality and the fact that I was super stressed while recording it. Yeah. But it was a lot of fun. We wish you a happy holidays and we hope you all are okay.

Shay Nehmad:

And we will see you in the in the new year, maybe in a week, maybe in two, maybe in three. We'll see when we'll be able to get back into regularly scheduled programming. You're exited. Program exited. Goodbye.

Shay Nehmad:

Program exited. Goodbye.
